アイエルツセミナーの概要

IELTSグループクラス内容・レジュメについての概略

IELTSインテンシブセミナーの概要は以下のとおりです。セミナー(複数の参加者が参加するクラス)は春と秋の年に2度ほど開催します。開催日程等の情報については IELTSグループ講座のページをご覧ください。インテンシブセミナーはリーディング、リスニング、スピーキング、ライティングのIELTS各モジュユラーに対してそれぞれおよそ20時間(1日およそ2時間のクラスの場合X10回)の講義を含み全モジュラー合計80時間のプログラムです。例えばライティングとスピーキングだけなど一部のセクションだけを選択して受講することもできます。

教材

As far as materials go, all of the sections are primarily based on Cambridge English: The Official Cambridge Guide to IELTS: for Academic and General Training. This is a very good text. Not only does it provide plenty of practice tests to use for general practice and for homework but it also has very good training sections which come with mp3 listening and video materials to use for instruction. For the writing seminar we will also like to include the Collins English Writing for IELTS text if possible. This text is great for the more technical aspects of writing and focuses on vocabulary building, grammar, etc..

We will also use the Cambridge English IELTS Practice Test series (probably only IELTS 9 and 8 in that order) as supplementary materials.

講座内容

The courses themselves will vary depending on which course it is. Any lecturing from the teacher may be accompanied with a power point presentation. This will allow the students to take proper notes and to not only listen to the teachers lecture but also keep a visual memory of the content which will help with retention.

IELTSスピーキング モジュール

The IELTS Speaking Seminar will be largely discussion based. Since IELTS speaking interview exams are largely based on the students’ ability to naturally speak English we feel that giving the students the opportunity to speak as much as possible in class is key to improving their score. This course utilizes the videos available with the Official Cambridge guide to IELTS DVD. The DVD will give the students not only an opportunity to discuss the good and bad points seen in the videos but also get an idea of interview test manner which is not something that is easily taught from a text book. The students will be able to also practice real IELTS speaking questions in a group setting.

IELTSリーディング モジュール

The IELTS Reading Seminar will focus on test taking tips along with chances to practice reading as much as possible. Although we think utilizing our library system would be beneficial for any of the IELTS seminars we feel that in the reading seminar the library books would be particularly useful. The students can use the books to help with vocabulary building. we plan to do a pre-test and post-test at the beginning and end of the seminar so that way our students can see their improvements from the course. Also to work on getting the students comfortable with the timing of the IELTS exam we plan to do a timed reading section in each lesson.

IELTSリスニング モジュール

The Listening Seminar will focus on test taking tips as well as give the students the opportunity to practice real listening tests as much as possible. Like with the reading seminar we will do a pre and post test at the beginning and end of the seminar. The text book provides lots of really good tips for taking the listening test as well has including lots of mp3 recordings on the CD-ROM. We will include as much listening practice as possible so the students can become comfortable with the IELTS listening questions. In our current intensive IELTS lessons we usually do one or two listening sections in a lesson and consistently I have seen improvements in the students’ listening ability and an increase in their overall scores.

IELTSライティング モジュール

The Writing Seminar will focus on improving overall writing skill. we include an extra textbook, The Collins Writing for IELTS. The main text offers many great concepts and activities for this. As with the Reading, and Listening seminars we will do a pre and post test. We will also incorporate peer editing as part of the course. We wouldn’t do this every week only occasionally but it can help students not only see other of their peers writing capabilities but it can also help them build on their skill by reading the writing of someone else. This is a concept that is widely used in the USA.
